ABOUT US

Mission Statement:

Portland Storm is a non-profit sports entertainment basketball club dedicated to helping our players develop into professionals on and off the court, growing new basketball fans, and providing great entertainment, value, and service for the community.

Our goal is to provide the Portland Oregon metropolitan area a family-friendly, affordable, professional basketball experience to influence the local youth to reach their fullest potential.

What sets us apart is our commitment to assist players in achieving their professional goals while serving the local community. Players and coaches will conduct skills camps for children, as well as participate in community service or volunteer activities involving charitable organizations and/or local youth.

Portland Storm was formed in 2019 by Curtis and Sara Hill and is coached by Curtis and his staff.

Curtis Hill
: President / Assistant Coach

Curtis Hill will serve as an assistant coach for the Portland Storm this season. Last season Hill was the Storm’s head coach in their expansion season. The Storm finished with a record of 4-4 in The American Basketball Association as the team fielded one of the youngest teams in the league. Hill served as an assistant coach at Portland Community College for the 2011-2012 season where he coached fellow Storm assistant coach Maxwell d’ Auvergne. Hill served as an assistant for the Storm’s Head Coach Jeff Perrault for Team Fly Select 17U AAU team for 2 seasons.
As a player, Hill played varsity at Newark Tech in high school for 3 seasons. After high school, Hill played Passaic County Community College for the 2001- 2002 season. Passaic would finish the season with a 27-5 record and named NJCAA Division 3 Region 19 Champions. The team finished ranked 9thnationally. Hill committed to play for Morehouse College in Atlanta Georgia but couldn’t play due to personal reasons. Hill played professionally for 5 seasons in the ABA, IBL, UBA, and EBA. Hill was recognized as one of the top perimeter defenders in all minor league basketball during his professional career.

Maxwell D’auvergne: Assistant Coach

Coach Maxwell d’Auvergne is a Portland native who has been coaching at all levels since finishing school at Portland State University. Max has spent the last 10 years coaching high-level AAU basketball and working on a number of high school varsity coaching staff in the Portland area. Max joined the coaching staff for the Storm last season with Coach Hill.


Jeff Perrault: Head Coach

Coach Perrault has been coaching and teaching basketball from the time he was in high school. He had the opportunity to coach local and community teams, varsity high school, college, and professional players. While serving as an officer in the US Army Coach Perrault gained many valuable lessons on discipline, accountability, and leadership which he tries to instill in others. Coach Perrault served as the Storm’s coach last season as well.

Samuel Stetzel: Social Media Manager

Sam is a college student at Grand Canyon University double majoring in Sports Management and Finance & Economics at Grand Canyon University.  He is a member of the Sports Business Club and had opportunities to volunteer at the Hoophall West Basketball Tournament and the Jerry Colangelo Classic Basketball Tournament both in Phoenix in 2019. Most recently, I have worked as a scoreboard operator and stats keeper for varsity high school basketball and volleyball games, Ticket Sales Representative for the Phoenix Suns at the Talking Stick Resort Arena, and Sports Sponsorship Scout for SponsorUnited. I am excited to be joining The Basketball League and the Portland Storm and look forward to this upcoming season.

Nathaniel Poe: Videographer/Photographer

Nathaniel is the owner of Poe Productions, a photography and videography company based out of Portland Oregon focused on basketball and other sporting events. Nathaniel has several years of experience recording and editing basketball film and travelling internationally for basketball videography. Nathaniel loves to bring smiles to others by showcasing them through photography or videography and creating lasting memories.
